Well actually, Sergio Garcia will NOT apologize to Tiger Woods yet...but if if he did, he'd make sure Wood's felt at home by offering him fried chicken.

According to The Guardian's Ewan Murray, Garcia was at the European Tour's gala players' awards dinner, where he was asked a question about Woods.

His answer could be construed as a racist remark by everyone except the author of this article:

"Garcia was asked in jest if he would have the American round for dinner one night during the upcoming US Open. "We will have him round every night," Garcia said. "We will serve fried chicken."

Garcia apologized, calling his comment "silly remark" and claiming that it was never meant to be interpreted in a "racist manner." The truth is, Garcia probably wasn't thinking when he said it.

This latest spat is as a result of an incident at the Player's Championship earlier this month. As Garcia was getting ready to play his second shot, he heard a raucous applause for Woods as he attempted to play himself out of the woods 50 yards away. Garcia claims Woods engineered this sequence of events to deliberately distract him while Woods claims that field marshals had told him Garcia had already played his shot. The marshals have equivocated on the issue.

Was Garcia being racist to Woods? Yes, according to most people.



Garcia genuinely dislikes Woods and there is plenty of history between the two golfers. I said something racist and didn't mean for you all to construe it that way is not an excuse. If you dislike someone and all you can come up with off-the-cuff are quasi-racist quips then that is telling in and of itself.

It's OK to dislike someone and be angry with them but there is a lexicon of vocabulary and jabs you can make that don't refer to obtuse, race-related stereotypes. What's Garcia gonna do next? Throw a banana at Woods and then expect us not to interpret it as racist?

Pete Kozma of the St. Louis Cardinals crushed a home run in seventh inning. The ball veered towards a young lady in the crowd who turned down the opportunity to move out the away, instead turning to cover herself up and allow herself to be hit.

Oscar Pistorius(above) is out on bail facing charges for the death of his then girlfriend  Reeva Steenkamp.

Three weeks after is arrest in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, Olympian Oscar Pistorius’ lawyers are returning to court to challenge some of the conditions of his bail. Pistorius' lawyers are challenging the conditions of his bail claiming the conditions are too stringent.

Among other things, Pistorius' bail conditions required him to turn in his passport, barred him from returning to his luxurious home in Pretoria (the scene of the crime) and forbid him from consuming any drugs or alcoholic beverages.

Pistorius is reported to be "on the verge of suicide" and distraught at his uncle's home seeking solace in Bible and obviously really needing a drink.

Edin Hazard, kicks a ball boy after he refused to return the soccer ball to the Chelsea star.

Eden Hazard, a Belgian star who plays for Chelsea in the English Premier League, capped the Blues' nightmarish end in the League Cup by kicking a ball boy who was apparently wasting time in returning the ball to the pitch after it went out of play.

Rafa Benitez, Chelsea's manager, said Hazard and the ball boy later apologized to each other.

“They both recognize there was a mistake,” Benitez said. “The boy was apologizing for time wasting. Hazard was frustrated and tried to get the ball. He was kicking the ball and getting the ball.”

Swansea Manager Michael Laudrup was less forgiving.

“The ball boy should have let the ball go, but he was pushed first and then he kicks him,” Laudrup said. “As a player, when you are behind, your pulse is very high and sometimes you say and do things. You overreact. But there are some things you cannot do.”

With a chance to seal victory for Juventus, 25-year-old Leonardo Bonucci received a pass inside of the Palermo penalty area which put him one-on-one with the opposition goalkeeper.

Bonucci attempted to take the ball around Palermo goalkeeper Samir Ujkani who didn't fall for anything the Juventus forward was selling. Expecting contact but not receiving any, Bonucci nonetheless continued his grand master plan, which appears to have been to win his team a penalty instead of outright scoring.  

Thin air ultimately made the tackle that sent Bonucci crashing to the ground. Sadly, the referee failed to spot the 'infringement' and instead awarded Bonucci with a yellow card for simulation.

Godfrey "Ucar" Chitalu, nicknamed "Ucar" for his battery-like, high energy levels and persistence.

Godfrey 'Ucar' Chitalu, a former Zambian international soccer player, scored an astonishing 107 goals for Kabwe Warriors. Chitalu netted his tally in 1972, the same year that Gerd Mueller of Germany recorded his total of 85 goals.

Although Chitalu's achievements have earned him immortality in Zambian folklore, it was Mueller's tally of 85 goals that stood as the official record for the highest number of goals scored in a calendar year. The record stood for 40 years until it was recently broken by Argentina's Lionel Messi.

Chitalu went on to win a FIFA special award and eventually became the Zambian national team coach before losing his life in a tragic plane crash in 1993 that wiped out an entire generation of Zambia's finest footballers.

The Zambian FA explains that they are currently trawling through their archives in order to get the late striker the credit that they feel he deserves.

"We have this record, which has been recorded in Zambian football, but unfortunately it has not been recorded in world football. Even as the world has been looking at Lionel Messi’s record, breaking Gerd Muller’s, the debate and discussion back here has been why Godfrey’s goals are not being recognized."

The Zambian FA have reportedly contacted FIFA, who said they have heard of the Chitalu claim and are "checking on it internally." The Zambian league was officially recognized by FIFA at the time and should Chitalu's goal return be verified, then the current record should be stripped from Messi and credited to its rightful owner.

If a league is sanctioned by FIFA, any scraps of official paper they produce should be considered record. The point of being part of FIFA is compliance to set regulations and mandates. The fact that there is no video evidence can largely be attributed to the general lack of video of any sort at the time. Try to recover footage of Pele's 589 goals scored from 1956–1974 and see how many of them you can actually find. Finally, on the charge of a general inaccuracy of record keeping in African countries, you cannot convince me they are any better than those kept in South America in the same period and yet we take South American records at face value.

A fight broke out during a football match in Paraguay's junior league which resulted in 36 players being sent off.

In the last five minutes of a heated clash between Paraguayan junior league rivals Teniente Farina and Libertad in the city of Caacupe, referee Nestor Guillen sent off one player from each team for violent conduct.

The two players ignored the referee's sanctions and remained on the field to duke it out, using a variety of kicks and punches fit for a UFC battle. The scuffle led to full-fledged brawl, featuring most of the squad members of both teams.

Instead of attempting to curtail things, officials fled leaving things to develop into anarchy, only surfacing in the latter stages of the incident to inform both teams that every member of each squad had been issued a RED CARD.

In fairness, these types of rules are fairly normal in professional sports but citing "injury prevention" as a reason is a more rare and perhaps comical reason for such.

Jonathan Soriano of Red Bull Saltzburg stepped up to take a penalty in a clash between Red Bull Salzburg and Rapid Wien and proceeded to comfortably produce the worst penalty in history.

Soriano's strike did not trouble the keeper and defied the laws of physics by rising at close to a 90 degree angle before ricocheting off a skyscraper, skinning a bird, striking low-flying aircraft and sailing into Orbit. The ball was located by NASA over the Maldives 3 days later.

US Women’s National Soccer star Hope Solo has caused quite a stir with a barrage of tweets directed at former player and current commentator Brandi Chastain. Chastain is widely regarded as a turncoat and the Alexi Lalas of female commentators, while Solo is widely regarded as super awesome and infallible.

Chastain attacked Solo's teammates (USA) describing their defense as poor and singling out several individual players, even after a perfect (3-0) start in the Olympics Women's Soccer tournament. Greek triple jumper Paraskevi Papachristou was withdrawn from the London Olympics on Wednesday (July 25) for tweeting what was perceived as a racist slur (probably by white people). Papachristou made the following comment:

"With so many Africans in Greece... the West Nile mosquitoes will at least eat homemade food!!!"

I feel like I am blowing the same trumpet over and over again and all that is coming out of it is vitriol and saliva. The same trumpet I blew in the Jeremy Lin "Chink in the Armor" case or the Suarez debacle. Is Papachristou's comment offensive? Maybe, but then again our standards are so low these days that the word "Monday" has graduated Magna cum laude and is now a racial slur. Expelling, banning or casting into exile anybody that references anything related to race is simply a cheap way of sweeping racial related incidents under the rug and refusing to actually deal with them and God-forbid grow from them.

It is not racist to simply mention or reference another racial group you are not a part of, but sadly for white people especially that is what society has degraded into. If a white person says,

their statement will immediately be considered racist even if they were slap bang in the middle of a market in Beijing, China and there legitimately happened to be many Asians in that area. On face value, I think it was an excellently put together little tweet and I am very sure West Nile Mosquitoes unfortunate enough to be born in Europe will agree that nothing does taste better than a home cooked meal and would welcome deportation.

I do not know Paraskevi Papachristou, neither do I watch Ladies triple Jump. I generally get up to make tea during such events. However, had I known such a super hottie was running up and triple hopping in to a pit of sand, maybe I'd have considered delaying my tea-making until the Men's High Jump.

LEOMINSTER, Mass. -- A Massachusetts police officer was put on paid leave Wednesday after an internal investigation found that he directed a racial slur at Boston Red-Sox outfielder Carl Crawford.

Officer John Perrault was off duty and attending a minor league game in Manchester, N.H. Witnesses said a heckling fan called Crawford, who is black, a "Monday" before a game between the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Portland Sea Dogs. Crawford said he interpreted the word as a racial slur.
Apparently the word "Monday" can be used as a derogatory term for blacks, and is often associated with Mondays being one of the least-liked days of the week." ?????????

Carl Crawford should be ashamed of himself not just as a black man but as a human being and perhaps even as a carbon-based life form. This type of trivial accusation compromises the credibility of such cases should they happen in future. If somebody hates or dislikes you, they are not racist simply because they happen to be white and you happen to be black (moron).

Racial abuse is slowly becoming the new sexual abuse. Remember when sexual abuse taken seriously? Remember the times before the Kobe Bryant Case or more infamously the, Duke Lacrosse case? Racial abuse is headed the same way. It's becoming joke. 

A racial slur is an insult directed at someone that makes a hateful or derogatory reference based on the victim's race. We have no idea what Officer John Perrault's attitude to black people is nor can we make any conclusion about it based on what he said. The fact that most people hate Mondays is not good enough.

Nobody likes wearing wet socks. Now if  I call a person, who happens to be Jewish a "stupid wet sock," does it mean I am abusing them racially? It may or it may not but it's a little [very] stupid to sound the racial abuse horn.  When Liverpool's Luis Suarez referred to Manchester United's Patrice Evra "Negro" and Chelsea's John Terry called Anton Ferdinand a "Black Cunt" those were racial slurs because the hate speech was connected to the race of the offended party.

Let's do quick exercise and replace a common racial slur, "nigger(s)," with "Monday" and see whether we can get the same, good old-fashioned hatred of blacks flowing:

Hope Solo, US women's soccer team shot-stopper.

Hope Solo tests positive for drugs ~ well not actually.

According to USADA, Hope Solo tested positive for canrenone, a prohibited diuretic ahead of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Once informed of this fact, Solo turned herself in and fully co-operated with authorities who concluded there was no foul play and an honest mistake was made.

Solo's doctor-prescribed medication for "pre-menstrual purposes" and the prescribed medication was discovered to contain canrenone in therapeutic doses and for this reason, Solo was only given a public warning instead of a suspension. Certain types of diuretics are prohibited by USADA as they flush athletes bodies of fluids and make the detection of other substances more difficult.

"As someone who believes in clean sport, I am glad to have worked with USADA to resolve this matter and I look forward to representing my country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London," Solo said in response to the announcement.

Solo is one of 14 American athletes to receive a sanction under the United States Olympic Committee's anti-doping policies this year but is one of only three who managed to avoid suspension.

Following in the footsteps of Anderson Cooper, star US midfielder Megan Rapinoe announced to Out Magazine that she is gay. Rapinoe went on to explain that she has never hid her sexuality in the past but has never been asked to comment on it in public and so never felt the need to.

"I feel like sports in general are still homophobic, in the sense that not a lot of people are out . . . I feel everyone is really craving [for] people to come out. People want -- they need -- to see that there are people like me playing soccer for the good ol' U.S. of A." Echoed Rapinoe.

Solo has NOT tested positive for steroids or any performance enhancers and this kind of mistake is more common with athletes than you may think. This means Hope Solo is still totally awesome and I would still like to keep my marriage proposal that I issued last year on the table. Megan Rapinoe's sexuality shouldn't really be our business and so long as she continues to whip in quality crosses, I think it's not our place to care. It's not even like we can really say we are shocked, she kinda looks like one doesn't she ~LES-B-Honest? After all, her hairstyle is one of the 4 official ways to spot a lesbian (see #2).  

Bottom line is, what kind of preparations is the US Women's Soccer team undergoing which involves so many pointless distractions??

Adidas faced heavy criticism after releasing an image of its new JS Roundhouse Mid Sneakers on Facebook, with some people likening the look to slave chains and prison shackles.

A controversial idea for an Adidas sneaker (JS Roundhouse Mid Sneaker ) whose design incorporates a built in shackle on each shoe has been shelved before it even had a chance to hit the stores.

The design for the Adidas JS Roundhouse Mid Sneaker was a collaboration between Adidas Originals and edgy fashion designer Jeremy Scott who decided a climate full of racial tension shackles wouldn't cause ruckus.  The public got its first look at the sneakers when Adidas added a photo of them its Facebook with the caption:

“Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?”

The obvious response to the idea of introducing shackles on a shoe designed similar to a basketball shoe (a "black sport") was offense and the surfacing of symbolism akin to slavery.

Adidas released a statement in response to the JS Roundhouse Mid Sneaker fiasco:

“We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace...Any suggestion that this is linked to slavery is untruthful,”

Truth be told, some symbolism can't be separated from its historicity. Shackles to a black man (particularly and African American) will inevitably land you on the topic of slavery. Shackles to white man will inevitably land on the guilt associated with the topic of slavery. In a similar vein, if you made a pair of shoes that when placed together form the image a swastika, no matter how you tried to spin it, people of  Jewish decent would flip out. 

And when the looked at the shoe the black dudes saw THIS!

Was The Adidas JS Roundhouse Mid sneaker design inspired by slavery? Probably not, I doubt the designer sat a down and thought to himself, "Hmm let me design a shoe inspired by slavery and market it to blacks/black wannabes. Was the design inspired by ignorance? Sure it was. What did Adidas think would happen if they made a shoe with shackles??

A controversial rule requiring all professional women's badminton players to wear skirts will not go into effect as The Badminton World Federation caved as a result of outside pressure that branded the rule as sexiest and outdated. 

The Badminton World Federation (BWF), looking to raise its profile and glamorize its image last year wrote into the official rulebook that women were now required to compete in skirts. Paisan Rangsikitpho, deputy president of the Badminton World Federation previously defended the rule, claiming that The BWF was not using sex to promote the sport. “We just want them to look feminine and have a nice presentation so women will be more popular.”

The rule was developed by The BWF in collaboration with Octagon, an international marketing firm with the idea that women players should wear skirts or dresses "to ensure attractive presentation." The rule was quickly slammed for being sexist and outdated.

The rule also raised the issues of religious discrimination as religious governing bodies in Pakistan, China, Indonesia and India also criticized the rule. But right now I choose not to deal with that element of this whole argument. Basically, these countries are saying don't make our women wear one thing because you are contradicting what we told them they are allowed to wear (in general).

I defend the BFW as this was an attempt to garner popularity for women's Badminton which would ultimately lead to higher revenue for both The BFW and the athletes. It is not as if the women were asked to wear g-strings or perform naked on stripper poles before their games. Now that would prompt me to immediately start watching Badminton even though I would have to concede that the rule was inappropriate.

Athletes have many different types of fans; the actual lovers of the sport and those that just watch athletes because they think they are attractive. Women have been watching male athletes because they are cute for years (see: Rafa Nadal ----> see: My Sister). Both sets of people bring money into the sport and there is nothing necessarily wrong with people that watch athletes because they think they are hot, aside from the fact that they usually annoy people who watch sport for sports-related reasons. Most other sports have uniform dress codes and it improves the aesthetics of the game and makes it look more credible. At Wimbledon women are required to wear a specific color of sports clothing which oncludes shorts, little dresses and little skirts and nobody is complaining. The skirts and dresses that were proposed by the BWF are regulation, appropriate sporting apparel and not leather mini-skirts or peddle pushers.

Furthermore, I am tired of this idea that sexualizing a woman is bad. I am tired of looking at a lady, finding her to be sexually appealing and being made to feel guilty about it. I am a dude, I happen to be hardwired to do that. It doesn't mean I only consider women as sexual objects nor do I not respect or revere their achievements. The fact is, you could even be in a space suit fully covered and it is possible for a guy to still think you are sexy.

Women can't have it both ways and at times wear clothing with the intention of "looking sexy" then turn around and persecute men that respond it. I may think you look sexy and that is a primal response that is not in my control. Whether or not you have anything else to offer is up to you. Which is why I always favor an insightful well read woman to compliment her sex-appeal. As David Beckham and other moderately talented male athletes have done, women (that play Badminton) should take their physical appeal and make people actually pay money to see it ~ and they will.

Enigmatic Manchester City star Mario Balotelli has warned the world that he will not tolerate racial abuse and will storm off the field and “kill” the perpetrators should he face racial abuse at the upcoming Euro 2012 championships to be held in Poland and Ukraine. 21 year old Balotelli has already endured numerous incidents of racial abuse in his career most recently in February when Porto were fined over the behaviour of their supporters in a Europa League tie against Manchester City. Balotelli also famously had to endure the abuse from fans of his home country, Italy, who frequently chanted phrases like “There is no such thing as a black Italian.”

I am reasonably certain Balotelli does not intend to kill anyone. I cannot assure you he won’t get violent as the 21 year old, loose cannon has more than once resorted to violence on the field sans any racist chants. All things considered, it is time FIFA and UEFA have a serious look at the rise of incidents of bigotry taking place on the field in the modern game. A governing body cannot claim to have a zero tolerance policy for racism then award major competitions to countries with documented, on field racial problems like Ukraine, in the case of Euro 2012 and Russia in the case of World Cup 2018 ~ both part of the renowned Easter European Banana Throwing Peninsular (EEBP). We have already heard reports that the families of England international players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott will not travel to Ukraine because of fears for their safety. A country where fans make race-based threats and are known to attend games armed with Bananas should not be allowed anywhere near any major competitions.

The question here is, should a player walk off the field if bananas are thrown at him or if he hears excessive, racially motivated chants? My answer is yes, absolutely, and so should the other players. The game should not continue until the matter is resolved. Fans should get the message that if they do not act accordingly, they will not be rewarded with a game. That in turn will lead to more self-regulations as most fans would really like to get their moneys-worth and actually see a game.

The Football field is essentially a player’s office of employment and it should be free from bigotry and abuse of that nature. It is the employer and organizers’ responsibility to clamp down on such things and clean the game up. I have played soccer and I know that part of the disadvantage of playing away from home is the hostile environment created by away fans but certain types of abuse are not appropriate or relevant to the game. What does being black and lampooning that fact have anything to do with the actions on the field? Home fans are there to hate on the other team, celebrate their failures and get under their skin in a reasonable manner or god-forbid, support their own team.

Some say Balotelli should be the bigger man and just play on or play harder but those are often sentiments made by people who understand the theory of being racially abused but have no concept of the types of emotions such a thing can stir up. Next time you are racially abused in your workplace, just be the bigger man and put your head phones on while the black dude calls you a cracker and throws Turkey sandwiches at you. Nobody knows what Super Mario will do in the event that he is racially abused but I am more interested in what UEFA’s response will be. Suggestions are that they should consider using the full power of technology to root out and ban the wrong doers from the games but it has been hard enough to make them consider using goal line technology.

In summation, I am not trying to make every racist out there see the light and change their ways, that would be a colossal waste of my time. I just want them to keep it to themselves and let the rest of us enjoy the game in peace.
