Drunk Father Sleeps and lets 8 year old son drive down Highway I-12!

Billy Joe Madden, lets the real man of the house drive, except the man is 8 years old.

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. -- Don't drink and drive is pretty good advice to abide by but a Hattiesburg man took this advice to it's ridiculous extreme.  Billy Joe Madden, 28, drank himself into a slumber and proceeded to allow his 8 year old son to usher his vehicle for the rest of his journey on I-12 from Hattiesburg to Dallas.

Louisiana State Police received a call shortly after 6:30am on Saturday about an erratic moving green Chevrolet cruising down I-12 which appeared to be under the control of an infant. Troopers located and stopped the vehicle, confirming that the brave young boy was driving the vehicle while his father hibernated in the passenger seat. Police said that Madden's 4-year-old daughter was riding in the backseat with no appropriate child seating.

State police arrested Madden and charged him with two counts of child desertion, parent allowing a minor to drive, open container and two counts of no child restraint and no seat belt. The two children were not injured and promptly turned over to Child Protective Services where they waiting for a more responsible family member to pick them up. Hopefully, Police made sure said family remember would be the designated driver back to wherever the children were headed. Madden was booked into Livingston Parish Jail, and his bond was set at $1,474. Too small a price to pay for stupidity of that magnitude.
