Jakadrian Turner, American teen mistakenly deported to Colombia returns to Texas (Video)
Jakadrian Turner returns to the US after being mistakenly deported to Colombia. |
15 year old Jakadrian Turner wound up being deported to Bogota, Colombia, in May 2011 after US authorities mistook the girl, an apparent teenage runaway who lacked identification, for a Colombian national. This was after the teen misrepresented herself as a Latina bearing the name Tika Cortez. Authorities took Turner's word for it, as it came with a pinky swear, and dispatched her to Colombia where she stayed for 15 months while authorities tried to figure stuff out and her family tried to find her.
Turner has now been returned to the US and reunited with her family despite her best efforts to escape them. Turner returned to the US with a bun in the oven having been found by a detective "partying and smoking marijuana" and tatuaje cigars in Colombia. Turner's Family is looking to sue the government for damages and civil rights violations while Jakadrian Turner herself considers filing charges against her parents for the inconvenience caused by returning her.
