Florida Man Run Over by Dog, in Freak Car Accident!
Last month we ran a fascinating story about the efforts of the New Zealand SPCA, in their attempts to teach dogs how to operate motor vehicles. In a separate incident, a dog found itself behind the wheel of car again, but this time the results proved fatal for James Campbell, 68, of Cantonment, Fla.
Campbell and Iris Fortner, 68, returned to their home in the Florida Panhandle last Monday. Campbell exited the car to open the metal gate and allow their car to enter their property.
An FHP report details that Fortner opened the driver's side door to see where Campbell was
standing when her large Boxer made a dash for the vehicle, entered through the open door and pressed the accelerator down by accident. Before
Fortner could stop the vehicle, it struck and ran over Campbell,
trapping him under it.
Campbell was pronounced dead
at the scene by paramedics. Campbell's death is currently under investigation. As of yet, Fortner has not been charged nor are there any explicit suspicions of malice. I tried to work in a "this is why women should not drive," joke but I think the real culprit here is clear....
