Burglar Breaks Into Winona County Sheriff David Brand's House...NUFFSED!
If there is one thing you should do, it's plan your robberies carefully. Make sure you take every precaution necessary to avoid getting caught by the police. At the top of this list should be "avoiding breaking into the very houses of the law enforcement officials you are trying to evade."
John Brian Clennon, 37 didn't plan meticulously enough and broke into the home of a sheriff in Minnesota. Winona County Sheriff David Brand got a call from his wife informing him that a man was trying to break into their home. The lawman, who was just a few blocks away, returned promptly and apprehended Benson swiftly. It is thought that Benson must have walked past Sheriff Brand's squad car, which was parked in the driveway, before grabbing a hammer from the cop's garage and attempting to smash a window in the rear and gain entry to the house.
HOW COULD THIS POSSIBLY HAPPEN?....WELL......
Clennon blew a .33 BAC (legal intoxication is .08 and .40 is life threatening) which goes a long way to explain his stupidity. Clennon explained that his actions were as a result of being kicked out of a car on Hwy 14 in Lewiston, after a squabble with it's female driver. The truth behind that can't be validated but one thing is for sure, Clennon will have plenty of time to contemplate his tomfoolery. He is currently in custody and faces charges of 1st degree burglary, 3rd degree burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, possession of burglary tools, disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process.
