NegroPhobia: Fear of Black People

The fear of any persons of African decent as pertains to casual encounters with unknown persons of this type in recreational or public locations.

A couple of years ago I was walking around in Cambridge, MA on a small path. It was early evening and there were very few people about. I am a black male, about 6 foot, athletic build, I'll get into why that is important later. Around the corner came a sprightly, gleeful white girl. As soon as she turned the corner and saw this black mass headed towards her, her glee was extinguished and replaced by a moribund look of impending doom. She continued a few steps before she ejected off the road and pulled her rip cord and safely landed on the other side of the road. I thought nothing of it until I noticed  that a half mile down the road that she had returned to my side of the road. My presence had caused her to change her schedule, to select an alternate route in the GPS of her mind....

THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON.....WHITE PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF THE AVERAGE BLACK DUDE THAT THEY DIDN'T MEET IN COLLEGE...

The media misrepresents criminal activity in the US. A cute white girl's child went missing under very suspicious circumstances, she didn't report it for about a month and she currently stands to make millions by telling her story. Meanwhile, another white man is on trial for polygamy and running an elaborate cult that involved the abuse of women and children. Both these stories are sensationalized and the features of the news programs, where they discuss their motives and whether or not they were abused as children or whether they are mentally ill. Then at the end of the show they quickly thrown in a picture of some black character who is wanted for allegedly stabbing an old woman, robbing her of all her cash and tossing a random white child in sewage pond for no reason on his escape. This black criminal has no motive, neither are they interested in why he did what he did. No one will pay for his story. He is black, aggression and petty crime is normal just avoid him and people that look like him. These people have the following characteristics.

BLACK MALE/WOMAN
BETWEEN 5"0 and 6"8
OF AFRICAN DECENT
LAST SEEN WEARING A WHITE SHIRT, BASEBALL HAT, JEANS AND WHITE SHOES.

Basically, what this means is 76 to 123% of the time I "fit the description" at least in a very general sense and I can't wear white t-shirts, blue jeans and and baseball hats for recreation anymore. I have to wear polo shirts because the black guys that were those are the OK kind.  

This happened my city and he looked so much like me that for a short time I began to wonder if I actually did it. Rest assured I didn't leave my house for 2 months as a precaution.

I got on a bus yesterday and I looked around to decide wear to sit. A observed many people who "fit the description." I had a brief moment of panic before I decided to sit next to white girl where I would be safest. At the end of the day I was very disappointed in my attitude and honestly I wish she had beaten me over the head and robbed me for all I had just to prove a point.

The media presents criminal activity along racial lines or do nothing to dispelled this myth. Crime is largely related to economics. In areas with people who have less criminal activity is highest regardless of skin color so why is the wanted guy on FOX News always Latino or Black? Not feeling safe in a dangerous area that happens to be populated by minorities is natural but looking at a black person and believing they will rob or harm you with no good reason for doing so is just being racist.....being that I am black, this would mean I was being racist against myself. Still trying to wrap my head around that...lol
