Joan Barnett fakes her daughter's Death to stay on Vacation in Costa Rica, it didn't work (video)?

There are certain rules that usually apply when it comes to making good excuses to avoid doing things.

1.) Make the excuse finite.
Go for something like a cold, which you will recover from quickly, rather than cancer which you will be expected to have for an extended period of time thus making it harder to pull off.

2.) Don't make it too serious.
Don't make it so serious that people feel obliged to check up on you in future. The less often you have to come back to the excuse the less chances people will have to catch you in a lie.

3. Definitely don't say someone DIED!
Karma is bitch. If you say someone died, they may actually end up dying mysteriously. Then you will end up subject to accusations of witchcraft or earn yourself a spot as the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Equally importantly, you have burned your days off for that particular fatality. So now you may have to miss the real funeral one day when it comes up.

AND......

What will you explain to people when they inevitably see that the person is still alive. Unless you actually went ahead and killed the person ahead of time, a death is probably the most illogical, least malleable excuse you can conjure up to skip work.

BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP Joan Barnett, a parent coordinator at the Manhattan High School of Hospitality....

Barnett was so determined to make the spring break jaunt that she:

* Had one of her daughters call the school to say that her sister had suffered a heart attack in Costa Rica.

* Had another daughter call the school later that day to say that the sister had died and that about a dozen relatives, including Barnett, were traveling to the country for a funeral.

* Faxed a forged death certificate of her daughter “Xinia Daley Herman” to school as proof of the death. The document is required if a city school employee asks for bereavement days.

A school official became suspicious of the forged death certificate. A special investigator's report says it had different fonts that were misaligned. The Costa Rican government later confirmed that the document was a fake. The jig was up but Barnett, 58, was able to spend two and a half weeks in March 2010 including her school-sanctioned, spring break in the tropical paradise.

........But how much does The Bitch in the Office that doesn't like you have to hate you to actually question a death certificate. How about the balls on that person?
