16 Items Left in Helmut Brecht's Body After Botched Surgery!

Nobody knows exactly what happened, but there must have been one hell of a party in the operating theater, as remnants of it were found inside the patient postmortem.

The family of a now-deceased German man claims surgeons left 16 items in his body following prostate cancer surgery.

A lawyer for Helmut Brecht claims that after a surgery in 2009, 16 items including: needles, compresses and surgical strips were removed from inside Brecht's body. The items were discovered when Brecht returned to the hospital after not healing correctly from his initial surgery. Brecht, 77, died last year and his family is suing for $106,216 in damages from the hospital that performed the surgery.

The hospital has rejected the family's claims and maintains the items couldn't have been left in Brecht's body because those particular items and equipment weren't used at the hospital. A hospital spokesman also said the compensation request was too high. Can you tell this did not happen in US?
