Bar Light Robbery!
By Africanlegend
Let's face reality. It appears as if it is innate to human nature for the strong to exploit the weak. For example, last night I was at a Reggae Night. I will continue to go to Reggae Night because the idea of a night spot not playing Lil Wayne or Katie Perry is a welcome break. I like the idea of not being brainwashed into liking music through "nail in temple" repetitive airplay.
All things aside, there was a huge poster on the wall indicating the drink specials.....one jumped out at me in particular:
DOMESTIC BEERS $1.50
Happily I ordered 3. I was with two friends the bartender disappeared and came back with the tab which was $9.00. Using my fingers I began a quick calculation. I came up with 4 and half fingers or 4.5 which was $4.50. Then I ask my two college educated friends. After putting our heads together the three of us concluded that the 3 beers ordered should cost $4.50. I called the bartender.
AL:Hey man, what going on, why do these three beers cost 9 bucks?
Bartender: It's 3 dollars each.
AL: The sign says DOMESTIC BEERS $1.50. This is a domestic beer.
Bartender: No, but that's only Bud Light and Miller Light.
AL: It say DOMESTIC BEERS, I am pretty sure Coors Light is a DOMESTIC BEER.
Bartender: Nah, sorry man...just to make you guys feel better I'll give you guys some shots..
AL: ??
The bartender assumed since I was dancing and having fun, I was drunk. Drunk people pay less attention to details....so he thought he could do or charge anything he wanted. If I was some spoiled college kid he may have gotten away with it. All that would happen would be that Mommy's would see a charge of $52.00 from a bar and soon thereafter be convinced that the beer was purchased because it was an "emergency." The only way Coors Light can be an imported beer is if I personally took one outside the country and resold it to one of you, charging you applicable import taxes. Do I look that stupid?
