Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ For Rent On YouTube but would you pay $2.99 for it?
By Africanlegend
I was just about to break the news of how Rebecca Black’s "Friday" was now a $2.99 Youtube rental, heralding a new era for YouTube’s content monetization strategy then just like a chocolate cake in front of a fat kid, the rental option disappeared into thin air. For a year all YouTube partners have had the ability to charge a rental fee for their content but that is hardly relevant to me. The question on my mind is:
Would I pay $2.99 to rent out Rebecca Black's Friday if I had the option????
I'll try and be objective. The lyrics are interesting. They are not about much but then again if you remove drugs, smoking, sex and other things that would abhor parental watch dogs you are left with:
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Lookin' forward to the weekend...
I doubt it took longer than 12 minutes to come up with the lyrics nor do I think anyone proof read them because they don't make much sense. For instance, if you were picked up by your friends in a car that has five seats and 2 of them are in the front two seats, do you really need to take a few minutes to decide where you are actually going sit or worse yet sing about you thinking about it?
Hey come on in! You can sit on Katy's lap, Jenn's' lap, Mike's lap, the windscreen or the empty seat, it's totally up to you!! |
Lyrics aside, if you had any question as to the order in which the days of the week go then I guess this song is a great learning tool. Today I learned that after Friday comes Saturday which is followed by Sunday but the tricky part is remembering Thursday comes before Friday. I have scribbled it down on the palm of my hand in case I should forget.
Today i-is Friday....Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes after...wards
OH MAN I was about to end this post because listening to the song was beginning to give me a stroke but I surely can't leave without mentioning the pedophilelish rapper dude? WTF?
Teenage girls yeah.....come into my car, I swear you'll enjoy the ride. |
THE VERDICT: NO! I would not pay $2.99 to rent out this video. In fact after a few calculations, I figured out they'd have to pay ME $6.78 cents to rent it out.
