Russian Billionaire Alexander Lebedev brawls on live TV
Lebedev, lingers over Polonsky after throttling him off the stage.
I feel like more interesting things happen in Russian than anywhere else in the world. There is always a story.....

Russian billionaire, Alexander Lebedev, owner of British newspapers, punched a man in the face during a televised debate on the financial crisis. He sent Sergei Polonsky, an ex-real estate baron, tumbling off the back of his chair.

Lebedev justified the assault by saying Polonsky had behaved in an aggressive, threatening manner throughout the debate. Reports have it that Polonsky announced that,

“he was sick and tired of useless discussion about [it] with tycoons, and he would rather hit someone instead”. Metaphor that would prove ill advised, especially when talking to an ex KGB agent.

”In a critical situation, there is no choice. I see no reason to be hit with the first shot. I neutralized him,” echoed Lebedev, the owner of Independent and Evening Standard newspapers.

We'll have to take Lebedev's word for it because it just looks like he bludgeoned an unprepared, seated, man in the face. A guy who didn't even make any attempt to strike back after plummeting into the oblivion that is the backstage left. This scene was all viewed by a smug bastard on the far right who chose to keep his mouth shut and looked like he knew Polonsky had it coming (that of course conjecture at this point).

Polonsky later published online pictures of a cut on his arm and his torn pants.....

How did he tear his pants??
