US High Court Upholds Murder Convictions of Vegan Couple Found Guilty of Starving Baby
ATLANTA -- Georgia's top court on Monday upheld the conviction and life sentence against an Atlanta vegan couple over the death of their malnourished 6-week-old boy, who was fed a diet largely consisting of soy milk and apple juice.
The First time parents tried to raise the child while adhering to their vegan diet. (Stupid people that need to go: Vegans) The Georgia Supreme Court's unanimous ruling rejected appeals by Jade Sanders and Lamont Thomas, who were convicted and sentenced after a jury found them guilty of malice murder, felony murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children for the April 2004 death of Crown Shakur.(FOX)
I think this is particularly disturbing. Veganism is a CHOICE. You chose not to eat certain foods based on some stupid moral or ethical outlook or because you fail to grasp the concept that animals eat animals. I think it's a ridiculous dietary choice and there is some science to back up my claim but that's my opinion (I accept that). You want to be a Vegan and feel better about sparing a cow's life or pardoning a chicken that's your business.
BUT......
To force this diet on a child is fundamental oversight. A child needs various nutrients in certain quantities and is able to get these in optimum quantity from breast milk or from milk solution that is artificially enriched with all these vital nutrients. Soy milk doesn't even come close to providing all of these vital nutrients and apple juice well pshhh....no comment on that ~ is if apple juice would filled in the nutrient deficiency Soy milk failed? In this case, nutrient intake is especially delicate because a 6 week child can't consume solid foods which may otherwise provide these nutrients to an older child. This is murder plain and simple, albeit through stupidity and gross neglect.
Furthermore no doctor could possibly have sanctioned such a diet for a 6 week year old boy. If a doctor did sanction the diet, they ought to be crucified in this case and then burnt at a stake shortly there after. This story suggests that these parents didn't care enough to find out, or ignored the proper care of an infant and failed to take action rapidly enough to rectify their buffoonery. I simply don't understand stories like this.
