Greek Triple Jumper Paraskevi Papachristou Unfairly Kicked Out of Olympic Games for Racist Tweet: What she said that was so TERRIBLE!!
Greek triple jumper Paraskevi Papachristou was withdrawn from the London Olympics on Wednesday (July 25) for tweeting what was perceived as a racist slur (probably by white people). Papachristou made the following comment:
"With so many Africans in Greece... the West Nile mosquitoes will at least eat homemade food!!!"
I feel like I am blowing the same trumpet over and over again and all that is coming out of it is vitriol and saliva. The same trumpet I blew in the Jeremy Lin "Chink in the Armor" case or the Suarez debacle. Is Papachristou's comment offensive? Maybe, but then again our standards are so low these days that the word "Monday" has graduated Magna cum laude and is now a racial slur. Expelling, banning or casting into exile anybody that references anything related to race is simply a cheap way of sweeping racial related incidents under the rug and refusing to actually deal with them and God-forbid grow from them.

Bring Paraskevi Papachristou to the table and let us talk about why she made that joke and in what context she made it in. Does she really have something against Africans or was this simply a joke she tried to make that offended people ~ something most jokes run the risk of doing. This is Paraskevi Papachristou's response:
It is not racist to simply mention or reference another racial group you are not a part of, but sadly for white people especially that is what society has degraded into. If a white person says,
"Wow there are a lot of Asians here..."
their statement will immediately be considered racist even if they were slap bang in the middle of a market in Beijing, China and there legitimately happened to be many Asians in that area. On face value, I think it was an excellently put together little tweet and I am very sure West Nile Mosquitoes unfortunate enough to be born in Europe will agree that nothing does taste better than a home cooked meal and would welcome deportation.
I do not know Paraskevi Papachristou, neither do I watch Ladies triple Jump. I generally get up to make tea during such events. However, had I known such a super hottie was running up and triple hopping in to a pit of sand, maybe I'd have considered delaying my tea-making until the Men's High Jump.
Definitely not watching now.....
