Typo in School Email Sends Parents to Porn Site!
The sight that greeted parents when the clicked a link at the bottom of an email. |
Public School administrators in Chicago were
apologizing furiously Thursday after a typo in an email to parents sent families
to an erotic website.
The point of the email was to notify parents that CPS was raising their
standards in the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT), implemented by the
Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
At the conclusion of the email, a link was provided that was intended to direct parents to "The Illinois Board of Education's" website, at ISBE.net for more information.
Instead, as a result of a small but significant typo, the email sent parents to Isbel.com, a soft core, pornography website where the parents had "Sex and sensuality illuminated" instead of a boring trip to the Board of Education's website.
CPS spokeswoman Becky Carroll said the error was unintentional. "As soon as it was brought to our attention, we sent out a letter
with a corrected link, and apologized for any inconvenience it may have
caused," she said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Some parents complained.......others signed up but at the end of the day no serious harm was done except maybe a few kids asking their parents to buy them the recommended reading that they saw in the email called the "Karma Sutra."
