Can Athletes handle the incredible responsibility of a twitter account?

By Africanlegend.
Unlike TV or movie celebrities who are taught to function in the lime light, athletes spend most of their time training and are simply taught to say as little as possible in public. They are taught not to say anything that doesn't involve "working as a team" or "going out there and giving it 100%" and at the end of the day it's all about winning the ball game" yada yada. Twitter has seen growing popularity among professional athletes. It give them a medium to vent their frustration but they often don't handle it too well. Let's look at some examples.

4. Lebron James

Lebron James sent his popularity down a spiral and right into the abyss after he sat for one hour and made us wait for him to make "The Decision" regarding his future with The Cleveland Cavaliers. This move was wildly considered as extremely disrespectful and drew much criticism. Following this, he went on an elaborate campaign to absolve himself of his own douchbaggery. However, it appears that Mr. James failed to think before he tweeted when he decided to poke fun at his former team after their humiliating 55 point loss to the La Lakers. An ill-advised, poorly timed tweet that re-enforced the fact that Lebron James ~ Can't handle the responsibility of Twitter!

3.Charlie Villanueva

After Kevin Garnet referred to Detroit Pistons Charlie Villanueva as "having the appearance of a cancer patient", the NBA star was righteously indignant and he had every right to be. While both parties had valid points, CV31 failed to think before he tweeted. Consequently, he posted a message challenging KG to some kind of gangster street fight to "exposing him." All this did was set black people back at least 47 years in their struggle to be considered as more than just overly aggressive, gangsters and rappers. Charlie Villanueva proved to us all that he ~ Can't handle the responsibility of twitter.
2. Marvin Morgan

I watch a lot of soccer and I would not have known about Marvin Morgan had he not brought notoriety to himself through his antics on twitter. Aldershot Town, a second division soccer team in the UK suspended and fined Marvin Morgan for his post-match outburst on twitter. After being booed off the field for a lackluster performance, Morgan decided to go home and tweet before he thought things over. Consequently, he posted a tweet that he wished death upon those malcontent fans. All Morgan was doing was informing us via loudspeaker that he definitely ~ Can't handle the responsibility of twitter.
1. Ryan Babel

Being a soccer player of higher stature than Marvin Morgan, you'd think Ryan Babel would know better than to tweet senselessly but this is not the case. Babel pretty much steps into a pile of dog feces every time he tweets, making him a highly recommended athlete to follow on twitter. Following 1-0 loss in a match which came down to a dubious penalty, Babel tweeted himself into a hefty fine. First he posted remarks about the official in the game, referee Howard Web (A fine in and of itself), then put a cherry on top he posted a photo with the referee wearing the opposition's uniform. This was totally hilarious but placed Babel comfortably on the list of athletes that ~ Can't handle the responsibility of twitter.
Referee in your opponents uniform? That's genius!

Keep tweeting athletes! If they get rid of you, twitter will be completely taken over by the cancerous teenagers that migrated from Myspace when they broke it with their lame-ness three years ago.
